What We Believe.

 The vision

The uniqueness of IAOGI | CANADA is its conviction of the sovereignty of the local church. We are eager for Mighty Holy Spirit to have an instrument which is flexible in the “hands of our Lord” during this critical time of history. We envision a continued outpouring of the Spirit of God, breathing life and resurrection into His own body. It is imperative that ministers and churches are able to follow through on the mandate given by God without interference from an ecclesiastical hierarchy. For this we have been born!

Our Task: Presenting the Gospel in Word and Deed to All Nations

We affirm our belief in the evangelical Christian faith as set forth herewith:

1. It is the minister’s responsibility to discipline his life so that he maintains an intimate and dynamic relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ.

2. We believe in Christ’s great commission to the Church to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. (Matt. 28:19)

3. We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that in Jesus Christ “dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” (Col. 2:9; Deut. 6:4; John 10:30; John 14:26; John 15:26, Matt. 28:19)

4. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His Virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. (1 Tim. 3:16; Acts 1:11; Rom. 8:34)

5. We believe in complete salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and obedience to the Gospel by repentance of sins and baptism by immersion in water. (Eph. 2:8; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:35–39)

6. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (11 Cor. 7:1; Heb. 12:10–14; 1 Thess. 4:7; Rom. 8: 1, 2)

7. We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit giveth utterance, and in the manifestation of the Holy Spirit operative in the Church of Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:38, 39; Acts 19:6; 1 Cor. 12: 4–11)

8. We believe in the observance of the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of His broken body and the New Testament in His blood. (1 Cor. 11:24, 25)

9. We believe in the fruit of the Spirit and that all the above must be accompanied by the Spiritual fruit of love. (Gal. 5:22, 23)

10. We believe in the five fold ministries God gave to His body: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, “For the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry. (Eph. 4:11, 12)

11. We believe that at the return of Jesus Christ “the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1 Thess. 4:16, 17)

12. We believe in the final eternal judgment at which time the condemned will be cast into the lake of fire. (Revelations 20: 11–15)

13. We believe that marriage constitutes a bond of lifetime commitment between one man and one woman and that it is the only legitimate, honourable and holy estate instituted by God. It was ordained of God as the foundation and bond of family life for the mutual help and comfort of husband and wife, and for the welfare of the state. (Gen. 2:26–25; Prov. 18:22; Feb.13:4; 1 Cor. 8:10; 1 Cor. 6:9,10; Rom. 1:24–32)

A) THE MINISTER’S LIFE

1. It is the minister’s responsibility to discipline his life so that he maintains an intimate and dynamic relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ.
2. It is the duty of the minister to develop a lifestyle that is above reproach and morally pure.

B) RELATIONSHIP TO FELLOW MINISTERS

1. It is inappropriate for a minister to speak evil of or belittle the work of a fellow minister.
2. A fellow minister should be held in respect and honour.

C) RELATIONSHIP TO ORGANIZATION OR DENOMINATION

1. It is unethical for a minister to speak disparagingly of the organization to which he belongs or of the officers who lead it.
2. It is unethical for a minister to ignore or disobey the authority of the leadership of an organization to which he belongs.

D) RELATIONSHIP TO PREDECESSOR

1. A minister should never disparage his predecessor or his work.
2. A minister should be kind and courteous to his predecessor.

E) RELATIONSHIP TO MEMBERS OF ANOTHER CHURCH

1. It is unethical to proselyte members from another church.
2. A minister should not seek to undermine the loyalty of a fellow minister’s congregation.

F) RELATIONSHIP TO THE BUSINESS WORLD

1. It is unethical for a minister to fail to meet business obligations without making appropriate arrangements.
2. It is unethical for a minister to seek special privileges or use his office to an unfair advantage.

G) RELATIONSHIP TO A CHURCH SEEKING A PASTOR

1. A minister should not consider or seek the pastorate of a church whose pastor has not resigned.
2. A minister should not seek a position or pastorate by using friends or circumstances for personal advancement.

H) RELATIONSHIP TO PARTY OR PARTIES HE HAS COUNSELLED

1. A minister should not betray the confidences of persons he has counselled by talking about their circumstances either in public or private.
2. A minister should not allow himself to become emotionally involved with a party or parties he has counselled.

I) RELATIONSHIP TO THE MATERIALS OF ANOTHER MAN

1. It is unethical to use another man’s sermons or materials in preaching without proper acknowledgement.
2. It is unethical to put another man’s materials in print and pass them off as one’s own.

J) RELATIONSHIP TO THE MEMBERS OF HIS OWN CHURCH

1. It is unethical for a minister to leave a church without having given it appropriate notice of his intentions.
2. It is inappropriate for a minister to take sides with factions in the congregation.

1. God’s clear plan and intent is that marriage be a permanent relationship severed only by death. (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4–6, 1 Corinthians 7: 10, 11)

2. One Biblical ground for divorce is sexual immorality. (Matthew 5:32, 19:9)

3. Anyone who divorces his partner for any other reason and marries another commits adultery. (Matthew 5:32, 19:9, Mark 10:11, 12)

4. Although divorce is permitted, IT IS NOT COMMANDED. The biblical emphasis is on the marriage and nothing in the Bible encourages divorce.

5. The party not guilty in the case of a divorce based on sexual immorality is free to remarry. (Matthew 19:9)

6. Sins committed before a person becomes a Christian should not prevent him/her from membership and fellowship within the church. (1 Corinthians 6:9–11, 7:17–24)

7. The qualification for ELDER (Five Fold Ministries) or DEACON in 1 Timothy 3: 2, 12, “husband of one wife” requires that he/she must be a man or women of unquestionable morality. He/she must set a high standard in the marital relationship in his/her faithfulness to one marriage partner. He/she is to be “a one–spouse sort of a person. (1 Timothy 3:1-13)

8. The ELDERS have the responsibility of giving or refusing approval to each application for marriage of divorced persons, and also any others referred by the pastor, according to the policy of the Church as stated above. They will give careful and prayerful consideration to each application on its own merit.

9. The Bible does not specifically treat the subject of those in the five fold ministries any different than it does the rest of those who are a part of the New Covenant. The highest standard is held up for all that are IN CHRIST.

*fornication” Porneia – used in the Bible to refer to unlawful sexual intercourse; generally can include all types of sexual sin both before and after marriage. This term is not restricted to pre–marital sin.

*adultery” Mokeia– refers to unfaithfulness after marriage. This is a more restricted term. All adultery is fornication, but not all fornication is adultery. In using the more general term “fornication” in Matthew 19:9, both pre–marital and post–marital sin could be grounds for divorce.
